Delete your data.
Last updated: August 30, 2026
What this page is for
This page explains how to delete the data Interview Expert holds about you, exactly what deleting removes, and the one thing it deliberately keeps. It is the data deletion request page for both the iOS app and the Android app.
Everything we store is keyed to a random identifier generated on your phone — your device ID. It is not your Apple ID or Google account, not your phone number, and not anything that identifies you personally. Our Privacy Policy has the full picture of what we collect and why.
How to delete your data
In the iOS app — the fastest way, and it deletes everything
Open Settings (the gear icon), scroll to Delete all my data, tap it, and confirm. The Android app does not have this control yet — on Android, use the email route below.
This is a complete deletion, not a local one. The app calls our server, waits for it to confirm, and clears both the data on your phone and everything held under your device ID on our backend — including your stored answer recordings, and apart from the two things listed under “What survives deletion” below. If any part of it fails on our side, the app reports an error rather than telling you it worked.
If you want to keep a copy of your practice history first, use Settings → Export my data. That gives you a JSON file of your transcripts and attempts, and your device ID is included in it.
By email — if you no longer have the app installed
You do not need the app to have your data deleted. Email support@interviewexpert.ai with the subject "Delete my data" and we will delete it for you.
If you still have your device ID — from a previous data export — include it, because it is the only thing that links your rows to you. If you no longer have it, say so in your email and we will work with you to identify your data before deleting anything. We hold nothing that identifies you personally, so we will never delete a stranger's data on a guess.
Uninstalling the app on its own does not delete the data held on our servers. Use one of the two routes above.
What deleting removes
A deletion clears every table our system keys to your device ID, and the audio files themselves:
- Your practice sessions and the question bank generated for your device.
- Your answers, attempts, and refinement attempts.
- Your transcripts, attempt scores, speaking metrics, and the coaching notes our AI produced.
- Your profile row, including any name, email, target role, or target company you entered during onboarding.
- Your stored answer recordings — both the audio files in our storage bucket and the database records that point at them.
Your recordings, specifically
The recording of your spoken answer is uploaded so we can score your pronunciation and delivery. By default it is deleted within 7 days. We keep it for longer only if you turn on saved recordings so you can play back past answers.
Deleting your data removes those recordings either way. Turning on saved recordings exempts a recording from the 7-day sweep — it never exempts it from you asking for your data to be deleted. Files and records both go.
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore your practice history afterwards, so export it first if you want to keep it.
What survives deletion, and why
We are deliberately not thorough about one thing, and you should know which:
- Your entitlement — what you have paid for, and your free-trial allowance. We keep this on purpose. If deleting your data also wiped your entitlement, a paying user who deleted their data would lose the unlock they paid for, and the free trial would reset for anyone willing to tap the button. Your purchase stays restorable on your device; your used trial time stays used.
- Purchase records held by Apple or Google as the merchant of record. They are the seller, not us, and their receipts are outside our reach. Payment details never reach us in the first place.
- Anonymous product-analytics events. These record that an action happened, not what you said, and are not cleared by a deletion request today. If you want these removed too, say so in your email and we will handle it by hand.
- Standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, request path. These rotate automatically on a short schedule and are not keyed to your device ID.
How long it takes
Deleting from inside the app is immediate. The app waits for our server to finish and confirm before it tells you it is done.
For email requests, we aim to reply within 24 hours — the same commitment as the rest of our support — and to complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving your request. You will get a confirmation email once it is done.
If you have not heard from us after a few days, please send the message again. A lost email is far more likely than a refusal.
